Hi Everyone,
Here's a card I made for the JustRite Friday Challenge #125 Non-Traditional Christmas. For this challenge we had to create a card or project using non-traditional colors, NO RED or BURGANDY colors.
When I first saw this challenge, I knew I wanted to do a pink and brown Christmas card. Today I decided to go a little grungy with the color. I also decide to take to challenge myself a little more, by not using any pattern papers or nor any colored cardstock (okay, I made the card base using brown cardstock).
To make the background, I stamped the Elegant Fronds Background onto white cardstock using Rich Cocoa ink, and sponged the entire background using all the distress inks listed below. I colored 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 sheet of white cardstock using all the distress ink, and die cut the frame. I stamped the ornaments and Poinsettias onto white cardstock using Rich Cocoa ink, I sponged the images with the pink distress inks, I die cut the images, and I sponged the edges of the die cuts with Vintage Photo distress ink. For the embellishments, I dyed the seam binding and cheese cloth with the distress inks.
I think the card turned out really nicely. I may have to try this again on another challenge using different colors.
Products Used:
Stamps: Merry and Bright, Festive Poinsettia, Elegant Fronds Background Stamp
Dies: Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments, Layered Poinsettia, 2010 Heirloom Ornament
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa; Distress Inks Victorian Velvet, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain
Embellishment: Dritz Cheesecloth, Seam Binding

Wow, Regina, you did get grungy with this card and I LOVE the result!!! Your distress-colored cheese cloth, seam binding and BG add a great feel to this beautiful Christmas card.
Looks fabulous, Regina! Love the grunge style and your bow. I like how you challenged yourself to not use patterned paper, too.
